Airwave
At the beginning of 2010 we had the idea of making an online radio show, so that the youth of the Island need not travel to attend a youth event, instead, the event could be held online. By the end of 2010, with the addition of a further 2 members to the team (Dave & Kirstin), the idea became a reality and we managed to produce a show!
Airwave Is an online radio show which focuses on entertainment over education – We want to make the show accessible to Christians & non-Christians in a way which is captivating for both audiences. We have done 2 shows so far:¨The test show was a disaster! The technology failed, meaning that we would st..er and not be h..rd pro..ly! This show has therefore been forgotten, swept under the mat of cover ups, and dismissed as a bad dream. The 1st official show was a great success! The technology worked perfectly and the show ran according to schedule. This has boosted our confidence in the value of the show and has led to us committing to run the project for at least a year
In the show we have some regular features, these are parts of the show which are pretty much going to be in every show. Notable examples of such features include ‘The Words of the Lord read by a Ward’; this involves a Ward reading out a section of the Bible which relates to ‘Bills Bible bit’. The Quiz is also worth mentioning. The quiz was good last time, but it could be better. We have decided to up the ante in the next quiz, by adding real jeopardy to the contestants. (Listen to our next show to find out more)
After our latest meeting about the show, we have decided to create an anonymous question-posting page. This means that anyone who is listening to our show can post a question to us, completely anonymously. This will encourage the youth to ask deeper questions without the fear that they will be mocked by their peers, or thought less of.
After every show, we will release a Podcast of the show, which will be a recording of the show but which may also include special features. We have posted the Podcast in the iTunes store, and have had a large number of downloads so far. (We had a full download bar thing before we moved the website!)
