Graih

'Graih - a Manx word meaning love - is an independent charity that has been nurtured and supported by Broadway. From their base in The Alpha Centre Graih seeks to love and serve those who are homeless or in insecure accommodation. Their aim is to build up relationships with everyone who walks through their doors, serving and loving in a practical way. The core work of Graih revolves around the drop-in, which is run mostly by volunteers and is open every day and every night (depending on volunteers!).

This is a safe, relaxed space for people to come and enjoy some warm food and drink and chat to different people. Graih also provides emergency accommodation for adult males if necessary. Their work spreads into the community, to the boarding houses where people live in substandard accommodation, to the prison and the hospital for visits, and to their allotment where they pray that the veg will grow in spite of their ministrations! They believe in a God who sets people in families (Psalm 68:6) and work to build up sustaining relationships with those on the margins of society. Graih are always looking for new volunteers to get involved, in many different ways, and are generously supported by many in the wider community.
