Prayer at Broadway
‘Continue in prayer’ Colossians 4 v 2
Just as a large portion of the bible is taken up with the subject of prayer, then so should our lives be – with Jesus as our closest friend.
In the early chapters of the Old Testament we read ‘then men began to call upon the name of the Lord…’ Jacob wrestled with God in prayer, Nehemiah prayed for months before he instigated the rebuilding of the walls. Daniel prayed three times a day; David called upon his God with all his heart. Elijah prayed both on the mountain top and in the cave. Jesus had to go away to a quiet place to spend time with the Father. Paul and Silas prayed in their dungeon. Jesus cried out in the garden of Gethsemane.
Spurgeon said that ‘Prayer is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, the honour of a Christian. If you are a child of God, you seek the Father’s face, and live in the Fathers love’
At Broadway we pray that we will be holy, humble, zealous and patient; have closer communion with Christ, and enter more often into the banqueting – house of His love.
