A community living to make Jesus known

Mission @ Broadway

As "a community living to make Jesus known," we're not just about discovering God's incredible love for ourselves: we also want to share that love in both words and actions.

Broadway people are involved in a huge range of mission projects, too many to mention here. The groups listed below are those which are our partner missions. They have either been set up by people from our church, or have a sense of being important to the whole church, rather than just individuals within it. We are committed to financial, practical and prayerful support of our partner missions.

Graih is a Manx word meaning love and charity that no-one can pronounce! Graih runs a drop-in at Broadway for homeless people and others in need. Emergency overnight accommodation is also offered, along with a range of services, home visits, and a small work programme. Graih runs on a shoestring staff and an army of volunteers, and aims to demonstrate God's care to whoever comes through the door.

DO! Developing Orphans

DO! Developing Orphans has established Broadway School, Northern Uganda. It aims to further develop the school and subsequently other schools, for the benefit of orphaned children. The charity also seeks to help relieve poverty and hardship by enabling child headed families to become self sufficient, no longer dependent on any form of aid, but able to provide for themselves.

Broadway Nursery and Primary School, Padibe, Northern Uganda, has been built, funded by money from the Isle of Man, with a lot of hard work by its Ugandan Headmaster, John Calvin.

ECO Church

At Broadway we recognise the importance of caring for God's creation as part of our worship and mission. To help us do this, we use the Eco Church scheme run by A Rocha. An Eco Church group meet regularly to consider how we can express car for God's world across four areas: in our worship and teaching; in how we look after our buildings; in how we engage with our local community and in global campaigns; and in the personal lifestyles of our congregation.

Hands of Hope

Hands of Hope seek to help the poor, needy and homeless of Romania, demonstrating God's love by working in the community, building homes, distributing aid and befriending families.

BMS World Mission

BMS World Mission is a Christian mission organisation, working in over 35 countries on four continents.

BMS Word Mission believes in holistic mission, an approach that stays true to the Christian call to evangelisation, without neglecting the duty to take care of the physical needs of some of the world's poorest people.

At any one time, BMS World Mission supports between 350 and 400 personnel - long, medium and short-term workers, teams and volunteers, in addition to a large number of supported national partner workers around the world, providing people, funding, training and expertise in their core areas: Church planting, Development, Disaster Relief, Education, Health, Media & Advocacy

Scripture Union Ministries

SUMT is working with over 90% of the Island's churches, every secondary school and numerous primary schools. The heart of the organisation is to train, equip, resource, strengthen and support local churches in engaging with youth. Check out information on the GAP year and other exciting things.

Firestarter is an annual camp for teenagers on the Isle of Man, held in the first week of the summer holidays. The festival offers young people the freedom to find their own fun in a safe environment, without alcohol or drugs. There is also the opportunity, under no pressure, to find out more about why the volunteers do it and why they believe in a loving God.

Baptists Together

As part of Baptists Together (Baptist Union of Great Britain) we link to the worldwide Baptist family, one of the largest Trinitarian church groupings. Our partnership in Baptists Together enables us to share the Good News of Jesus throughout the British Isles and beyond.

The Stauros organisation seeks to minister to people who are addicted to alcohol and other drugs, and to offer support to their families. Stauros meets every Thursday evening at Broadway, offering a safe and supportive environment for people struggling with addictions to find God's strength for recovery.

PrisonWorks helps those who are affected by crime to rebuild relationships and find freedom within. As well as engaging with those in prison, PrisonWorks runs a regular drop-in session at Broadway for people who are victims of crime and abuse.

Friends and Heroes

An international ministry operated from the Isle of Man, Friends & Heroes is an animated series for children that helps to teach them the stories and morals of the Old and New Testaments.
