Welcome to Broadway Baptist Church

We are a lively Baptist church in Douglas, the Island's capital. We love to gather on a Sunday to celebrate God together. As a church community, though, we are about so much more than Sunday mornings. We have a thriving youth and children's work for both church and community. We offer various groups to support people in need. Through the week, we gather in Life Groups to encourage one another.

God has called us to be a community living to make Jesus known.

If “a community living to make Jesus known” is who we are called to be, then our 4 Gs are what we are called to be:

We are to be people who GLORIFY God. Together and alone, our prime and eternal purpose is to worship God and bring glory to Him (Isaiah 24:15, Colossians 3:23)

We are to be people who GATHER together as community, as family, as people loved by Father God, redeemed by the Lord Jesus, and indwelt by the Holy Spirit (Psalm 133:1)

We are to be people who GROW together in maturity, in the unity of the faith, and into a more and more recognisable likeness to the character and spirit-filled power that we see in Jesus (Ephesians 4:13).

We are to be people who GO, sharing Jesus in both word and action, so that in our spheres of influence, to the edges of our Island and the the ends of the earth, God’s Kingdom, or effective rule, will take root in people’s lives
(Matthew 28:18-20).

Alongside the who and the what, we have our values, which are about how we are called to live as God’s people in Broadway Baptist Church. By God’s grace, we aspire together to be:

PEOPLE OF DELIGHT.  Our core identity is much-loved children of God, transformed by the radical life, sacrificial death and physical resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Let’s pray to be gripped by a grand obsession to be worshippers who give pleasure to God, and to enjoy his delight in us. (Deuteronomy 6:5, Psalm 37:4)

PEOPLE OF LOVE. As God’s love thaws our souls, warms our hearts and sets our spirits ablaze, so that love will spill over to others and find expression in welcome, inclusion and love. (Mark 12:30-31)

PEOPLE OF RISK. For the sake of so many people on the Isle of Man and beyond who haven’t discovered the God who loves them deeply, constantly and without limits, we want to be ready to take big risks in sharing Jesus’ Good News and in using our God-given gifts.  We recognise failure as a chance to learn and an exercise in stepping out of the boat onto the waters of faith. (Matthew 14:25-32)

PEOPLE OF HUMILITY. There's a lifetime's work in this one! Looking to live like Jesus, the humble King, we place a high value on humility. We look to honour others and to submit to one another in graciousness and gentleness.
(Philippians 2:1-8, Ephesians 5:21, James 4:10)
